Hugo José Massella Conde is a Guatemalan teenager living in Mexico. Hugo was born in Sanarate, El Progreso and he grew up in Guatemala City. When Hugo finished school, he decided to study music, so he started looking for an institute where he can develop his abilities. He didn’t find an attractive place here in Guatemala, so he started looking in a foreign country. Hugo found an instituted in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, called “Fermatta”. He decided to apply and got accepted. In 2018 he moved to Guadalajara and started his music studies. Hugo actually in his free times, works as a videographer and as an audio operator in a Mexican channel.
I decided to ask him some questions about his adaptation in Mexico.
- What do you most like about living in Mexico?
+ The food. They have a lot of variety of food. They always recommend me many places to go and in every single place I had visited the food is amazing.
- What differences do you find between Guatemalan’s society and culture with Mexico?
+ Here in Mexico the people are more openminded in comparation to Guatemala that are more conservatives. The culture is pretty similar sharing many traditions.
- What do you miss most about Guatemala?
+ The weather, because here is really warm, usually at 30 Celsius degrees.
- Do you plan to return to Guatemala?
+ Not for now, I will look if I can stay here.
So, for all the Guatemalans that live in foreign countries, I wish you the best and put our country Guatemala on top and never forget where you come from.
